June 28, 2023 – Canada is welcoming back the world as the second annual GLOBL JAM international showcase returns to the heart of Toronto, starting next month. Mirroring the inaugural showcase in 2022, festivities will once again centre around GLOBL JAM FIVES – the world-class 5×5 Under-23 basketball tournament featuring men’s and women’s teams from around the world. Tipping off live from Mattamy Athletic Centre, GLOBL JAM FIVES offers Canadian basketball fans a chance to see the future stars of the NBA and WNBA in action – and Sportsnet will be courtside to bring fans every three-pointer, swish and dunk.
Laying-up exclusive coverage of GLOBL JAM FIVES across TV and SN NOW, Sportsnet’s live coverage gets underway Wednesday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. PT with a showdown between the men’s teams from United States and Germany. Later that day, Canada’s women’s and men’s squads launch their GLOBL JAM journey with back-to-back games vs. Team Africa. Fans can catch both Canadian teams in action in primetime throughout the round-robin tournament. (Full broadcast details below)
Delivering full-court action, Sportsnet’s roster of hosts, analysts, and reporters will be in the centre of it all. The GLOBL JAM on Sportsnet broadcast team includes:
- From the desk – Host Danielle Michaud and analyst Sherman Hamilton provide pre-, post- and halftime coverage live from Mattamy Athletic Centre. Plus, special guests will join the desk throughout the tournament week
- From the booth – Matt Devlin, the voice of the Toronto Raptors, has the play-by-play call for every game alongside analyst Alvin Williams
- Courtside – Reporter Savannah Hamilton delivers the latest news and exclusive interviews from the sidelines
To complement Sportsnet’s live game coverage, four local Canadian artists will lend their original music to the GLOBL JAM soundtrack throughout the tournament. Each headlining a day at GLOBL JAM, artists include Rochester, E.M. Lourde, Beals L.e.s and Tara Lord. In addition to music being woven in throughout Sportsnet’s live coverage, exclusive music content will also be available across the network’s social and digital platforms starting Wednesday.
GLOBL JAM 2023 marks the second international collaboration between Sportsnet and Canada Basketball since unveiling a multi-year partnership to grow the game of basketball coast-to-coast in February 2021.
